were offered to the public.
Each piece was created in the style of a different late 19th or early 20th century master.

Madame O at St. Moritz
 

Painted by local artist Susanna Lamy in the school of Tamara de Lempicka.  This bold and festive piece was created in the style of 'Polish Art Deco' with influences of Cubism. Lempicka was born in 1898 to a wealthy family in Russia and was known for her bohemian style as seen in this seductive piece of a local Madame in Paris.  

Susanna Lamy studied Illustration at Sheridan College half a lifetime ago. She is a full-time artist, specializing in murals, custom paintings and illustration.  Her work has taken her throughout Ontario, into the United States and as far as Italy.

Painted in acrylics, this canvas measures 18 1/2" x 26 1/2"

The Village
 

The Village was painted by local artist Susanna Lamy in the school of Marc Chagall.  Chagall is best known for his synthesis of French Modernism with Symbolism, Cubism and Fauvism. The Village depicts overlapping dreamlike images pieced together within a continuous space of yellow, blue and earth hues.

Susanna Lamy studied Illustration at Sheridan College half a lifetime ago. She is a full-time artist, specializing in murals, custom paintings and illustration.  Her work has taken her throughout Ontario, into the United States and as far as Italy.

Still Life with Pears
 

Still Life with Pears composed by artist Jayne Reid is in the school of French artist Paul Cezanne who was born in 1839 and is remembered for bridging the gap between Post Impressionism and early Cubism.  He is often referred to as the 'Father of Modern Art'. This composition of earthy and muted hues evokes old world notions of romance and a simpler time.

Jayne Reid is a self taught artist living in Waterdown with her dog Matilda.  She works primarily in charcoal or oil, so has enjoyed the opportunity to explore painting acrylic to mimic the styles of Cezanne and Picasso.

Concretion Humane sans Tete
 

Jean Arp wrote 'Concretion designates solidification, the mass of the stone, the plant, the animal, the man, is something that has grown'.  Created in the style of Jean Arp, Melissa's sculpture emulates the biomorphic pieces created in wood and metal. Poetically alluring, it's curving form is suggestive of the natural world.

Local artist Melissa Staples went to Sheridan College for Art. This artist and gardener gets her inspiration from the beautiful hills in Erin.  She enjoys painting landscapes in acrylics.  She also does stunning paintings of people's pets.


Constructed of wire, paper mache, clay and Gesso, this sculpture measures 18" x 14" x 10"

La Femme et Bouteille de Vin
 

La Femme et Bouteille de Vin was painted by Jayne Reid in the school of the famous Spanish artist, Pablo Picasso.  He was considered a radical 20th century artist who co-created the Cubism movement.  Known as a notorious womanizer, the model for this painting was one of his many mistresses - Marie Therese.

Composition X and Y
 

Composition X and Y composed by Richard Day in the school of Piet Mondrian.  This Dutch artist was born in 1872 and is well known for his vertical/horizontal black lines and three primary colours.  Mondrian was an important contributor to the De Stijl art movement and group.

Richard Day is the husband of one of Erin Theatre's leading actresses.  As always, he generously volunteered to help out and really enjoyed the project!

Misery


Misery depicted by Barb McKee in the school of Norwegian painter Edvard Munch who was born in 1863.  This colourful pastel symbolically captures the dark side of life.  Munch is best known for the iconic Pre-Expressionist painting - The Scream. Much of his art is psychologically driven.

Barb McKee is a local actress and volunteer with Erin Theatre who courageously captured Munch's intense emotions and style.

Painted in pastels, this canvas measures 27 1/2" x 19 1/2"

Dance of the Nymphs


Painted by local artist Susanna Lamy in the school of Gustav Klimt. This striking acrylic of two water nymphs flirting with one another in an erotic tapestry of golden hues is reminiscent of Klimt's 'Golden Phase'.  He was an Austrian Symbolist painter, born in 1866 and died in February 1918.

Lily Pond
 

Lily Pond was painted by Melissa Staples in the school of Claude Monet. He was the Founder of the French Impressionist movement and was born in Paris in 1840.  Monet sought to capture the essence of the natural world using strong colours. In his latter years, he composed a series of over 250 paintings of water lilies.

Painted by artist Rhonda Hewitson in the school of Vincent Van Gogh.  Rhonda is a self taught painter and Graphic Designer who mainly works in acrylics, but has dabbled with oils.  A Marketing Coordinator by profession, Rhonda also enjoys photography.
